Foreign Policy Questions
Ladies and gentlemen, today we're here to discuss the tricky twists and toils of American foreign policy. To look further in depth on the issues of ISIS, nuclear armed North Korea, and the image of our nation as a whole.
1. What role does your administration believe the United States should play in regards to international conflict?
- Be able to explain how this belief will influence your actions toward North Korea, ISIS, Syria and the War Afghanistan.
There can be no one cookie cutter format to how we deal with events that happen on foreign soil, every situation must be taken into perspective based on circumstances of the United states and any possible action must be carefully evaluated. There are two questions we must ask ourselves when an incident occurs, one “Is this event important to or effect the lives of the American people?” and two “Will there be a significant loss of innocent live if America doesn’t intervene?” As one of the strongest and largest military power in the world, a certain responsibility falls on our shoulders to intervene in foreign situations if a blatant unethical act is occurring , others may say that it’s none of our business, I call those people cowards; they’re afraid to lend our strength to those who need it and that’s just not what America stands for. We stand for things worth standing for; things like a stable and democratic Middle East, a world where terrorism is no longer causing fear and taking lives, and an America no longer at odds with north Korea.
America also doesn’t stand for unnecessary war. If the leader, along with the people, of this country would be more open and accepting to compromise and conversation, and I don’t mean political conversation where they talk in circles and wind up nowhere, I mean actual conversations with the UN about ISIS, Syria, and with Kim Jong Un results can and will be seen. In 2015 the impossible happened, Cuba opened up its borders to the US after 56 years of trade and travel embargo’s, all President Obama did was talk on the phone with Raúl Castro. A conversation can change a nation, me and my campaign partners intend to have many.
2. What methods have been used by the Obama administration and Trump administration to combat ISIS?
- Include specific examples.
Obama had pulled boots off the ground in Iraq, he felt that the Iraq government was at a point that it could become and continually support a Democratic state. This didn't necessarily cause ISIS, but the Obama administration's reoccurring turning of a blind eye did. We, as a nation, must decide are we involved in the rebuilding of Iraq or are we not. My administration under President Jack Carter fully intend to, similar to President Obama, get more involved in the building and maintaining of the country until we are certain it can stand on its own, until we're certain that the people of Iraq are in control of their own lives and can feel safe and at home in their country.
3. Do you agree or disagree with the methods used by the Obama/Trump administration to combat ISIS?
- Include specific examples of actions taken that you support or oppose and be able to explain why.
I agree with what the Obama administration was trying to achieve, the end goal it to leave Iraq with a better government, however Obama left Iraq too soon and refused to look back as the war raged on.
The Trump administration has, so far, had a very effective strategy of drying up all of ISIS resources, one year into this strategy and ISIS has lost control of Mosul, the second-largest city in Iraq, in July 2017, three months later, ISIS’ capital,Raqqa of Syria, collapsed. They were taken back later by military forces unfortunately. We plan to take this strategy while keeping the end goal in mind. We're not going to defeat ISIS out of retribution, we will do it because it's our responsibility.
4. How will your administration eliminate the growing threat of ISIS?
- You must address methods that you will use and how they will eliminate ISIS.
- If you do not believe ISIS is a threat, explain why and you will ensure that they do not become a threat in the future.
The simple fact is that ISIS is a threat. They will destroy any piece of Western civilization, no matter the price. Not all of Iraq people are ISIS which is an important distinction to make, we cannot allow ourselves to become bitter and angry based on fear. That is what my campaign partners and I intend to eliminate, the fear. We will emphasize the difference between a citizen of the Middle East and a terrorist in media while continuing our efforts to choke off ISIS resources to their bases, to their military, to their lives that are filled with nothing but pointless hatred.
5. What does your administration plan to do in regards to the growing tensions with North Korea? Explain your plan and why you believe it will be successful.
the tension in North Korea have existed ever since the end of the Korean war, North Korea is holding on to the false idea that we, the United States, are out to get them as “cunning American wolves” . They are holding on to their ideals that we are still the most bitter of enemies. A simple fact of life is that not everyone is going to be friends, and we don’t have to have an alliance with North Korea; we just have to be able to live on this earth together without blowing each other off the face of it. At this time our administration should proceed with caution in its dealings with north Korea, but proceed nonetheless. a line of open communication is the first step to progress, and as we place one careful foot after another soon enough we’ll be casually walking down the road to peace and tolerance.
7. How do you plan to ensure that Americans are safe both at home and overseas? Include specific information and ideas to support.
The home front of the US is secure on almost all fronts, the only way we could see making it safer is to add more surveillance to the American population, a majority would see this as an invasion of privacy and the only comfort I can offer to offset that is that everyone is innocent until proven guilty in our judicial system.
8. Operation Enduring Freedom (The War on Terror) began in Afghanistan began in October 2001, shortly after the September 11th attacks. We are approaching the 17th year of our involvement in Afghanistan. While the combat mission may be over, the U.S. continues to work to stabilize the region and fight terrorism. If elected, does your administration plan to continue the War on Terror (Operation Enduring Freedom) in Afghanistan? Explain.
As seen in earlier arguments, yes my administration will continue the war on terror. our belief is that the whole world has stopped to chip in their two cents about how and why the Middle East is this and that, why we should and shouldn't help. my question is this. Where is your humanity? There are people killing others for things as insignificant as what region they were born in, this is a place in the world that desperately need stability, why shouldn’t we help those that cannot help themselves.
9. How do you plan to improve America’s image around the world? Explain with specific examples.
all around the world America has a similar image to other countries and that is LAZY. The world sees us as lazy. We cannot keep drawing lines in the sand and hope our “great image” of the past is enough to keep other countries from crossing them. We should open up to the idea of being “The Melting Pot” once more and take pride in our unique patchwork culture forged by brave people who wanted the title of “American”. Our image to the world is a reflection of how we treat our citizens, a quote I’m fond of comes from J.K Rowling “If you want to know what a [person’s] like, take a good look at how [they] treats [their] inferiors, not [their] equals.”
